I'm 21 now and have acne scars will collagen still work for me? I'm 21 now and have acne scars will collagen still work for me? if so how many more years will my collagen be strong

deuce replied: "Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure if collagen will work, but I know a product that has worked for my friend and I for acne. I use Dadashie. My friend got it at a skin care clinic. Dadashie does have product for scars. In case you live in CA, is the site of the clinic I went to. Or just ask a clinic if they use Dadashie. I don't mean to sound like a Dadashie commercial, but this stuff really works. From my personal experience, I recommend you go to a skin care clinic, ask for that product, and it will improve your appearance. Check out some before and after pics on the site. Try dadashie.com. Good luck with whatever you decide."

Collagen repair for Acne Scars? I have post-acne marks on my cheeks and they seem to be fading with the products that Im using. But I've also noticed that I have some scars that are pretty deep.. (if that makes sense) Is that because of lost collagen in some areas? If so, is there any products or medications that I can use/take to boost up my collagen to baby smooth skin?

selenaforeversad replied: "Drink lots of water like I have said. It will also help get rid of scars and can possibly prevent them. (See how good it is to drink water?) Eat fruits and vegetables. They contain lots of vitamins and minerals that help your skin restore its self. Slice up a tomato every day and place it on your face where you have your scars. It contains a lot of vitamin A that should help. Also rube honey on your scars. It will help your skin look younger also as well as using aloe vera gel. Rube ice cubes on your face. It will also help prevent acne also. I did that whenever my family ran out of money to buy me any more proactive and it helped some. Try putting some lemon juice on a cotton ball and putting it on the effected areas for at lest ten minutes a day. It will help lighten up your scars because of some kind of bleach in it. However, it shouldnt burn your face. You can also try drinking a glass of it a day. Use Neosporin. It should help speed up the process of your scar. Use a scar treatment or a triple antibiotic ointment. Put it on at night and when you wake u in the morning, it should lighten up. However, dont use too much of the antibiotic ointment. It may cause your skin to become overly oily and cause some breakouts. If you need any more help, email me at As well as anyone who needs more help."

i had collagen injection for my acne scars, is the results temporary or what? there is an improvement making my face smoother but i heard the results are not permanent? that means my scar will be more visible after time or what? what other treatments are there for acne scars?? my scars are icepick scars and scars where the tissue is depressed forming flatted scars of shapes...

nichole f replied: "collagen injections are not permanent, and it depends on your body as to how long the collagen will last (it's a little different for everybody). those are questions that you really should have asked the doctor when u had the injections done. you should try a scar cream or ointment of some kind to help reduce the scar itself rather than just camoflauge it. try something like mederma or i've heard that vitamin E cream and/or oil helps with healing too. goodluck!"

increase collagen, heal acne scars? What are the best products out there which contain (separately) : - FGF (fibroblast growth factors) - TGF-beta (transformation growth factors-beta) - ample, fresh, bio-available, and active supply of vitamin C. - Peptides - Retinol - Hyaluronic Acid ???????????????? And I have some deep acne scars (red marks type), if any of your experienced that, how long did it take for YOUR scar to heal? I just want to know the products and how long, I already know about the clinical treatments. Thanks.

Danielle G replied: "I remember hearing about collagen in college being way too big a molecule to pass through the skin to heal ANYTHING. The best bet is Mederma. I have heard that coco butter can smooth marks and scars as well."

InvisibleWar replied: "If the scars are really deep, then there isn't much that can be done with over the counter solutions. Think of an acne scar as a wrinkle. A chemical will only remove the thinest upper layer. You need to fill in the space left by the scar. A surgeon would treat the acne scar in the same way he/she treats wrinkles. Be careful when you try chemical solutions on your face. They might cause you to get more acne. It could make the situation worse."

Nefertiri replied: "ok i don't know the answer to the 1st question, iono products. But if you want fast results, try dermaroller! I really truly completely reccommend it lol you can see results in about a month, your skin texture will even out. The redness will dissappear by itself in time. And if you wanna increase collagen, I know some food that'll help for e.g. pork skin (gross, but very true), shark collagen, fish, and pearl powder I hope I helped at all :)"

Collagen filler/wrinkle creams for acne scars? Do the collagen fillers/wrinkle creams (that you can buy at walmart) help get rid of acne scars? (as in deep pit like spots on the face)? If anyone has tried this and had success, let me know! and tell me what you have used. I know Loreal and Olay have a collagen filler cream, I'm just curious if it will work for this. thanks

Mariposa_kitty replied: "dont get olay or loreal they are generic and dont work. go to walgreens and get bio oil. it is used not only for scars but its for uneven skin tone, dehydrated skin and or age spots and wrinkles. also used for stretch marks. It works amazing my mom used it on her face and she was flawless in like 2 weeks so then i bought some and used it for my face because i tan alot and it gets rid of age spots. Then i had kids so now i use it for my stretch marks its a great product."

teresa b replied: "Olay filler, l'oreal filler, and Roc filler are all rubbish, i am going to try the anew filler from Avon next, they do not do what they say, all are a load of rubbish, trust me, i use nearly every product on the market. Best option is botox, i know it is expensive, but trust me, it works, regarding acne scars Book a free consultantion Request a brochure Anti-ageing Microdermabrasion this does help acne scars, you can use a home made one using honey and sugar or olay do one which is ok, but to really get rid of the scars, maybe see a beautician who will work wonders on you."

best removal treatment for pitted acne scars? i found 3 on my face the other day i have to get rid of them . i looked it up but dont know which treatment is best for pitted scars not acne scars. dermabrasion, chemical peel, collagen injection, laser resurfacing, punch grafts, autologous fat transfer, which is the best one ?

Dr. Azim Ulah replied: "Well...it is usually a combination of two or three of the above to get the best results...i.e. Dermabarsion and chemical peels can give good results in only very superficial acne scars. Collagen injections, fat transfer, Co2 Laser resurfacing, filler injections and aptose threads can give better and varying degree of results depending upon the skill of the practitioner.. Mind it ....The skill of the practitioner is very very important in all these treatments , otherwise some times the results are horrible and can rather damage the skin much more than the rugged skin."

How can I get rid of somewhat deep acne scars? I have heard things like vitamin C (orange juice) can produce collagen. Would that type of stuff get rid of acne scars?

Bek replied: "Any kind of vitamin c enriched moisturiser should work, or coco butter (palmers brand is good). There's always things like bio oil that gets rid of scars too."

jenni c. replied: "nothing you apply topically will make any noticeable difference to your scars. the only way to reduce their appearance is with laser treatments. they'll definitely be expensive, but i think its worth it if your acne scars don't have to bother you for the rest of your life."

julie replied: "There are a number of medications; creams and acne blemish treatments that can be used to reduce the appearance of acne scars.Log on to for a few home made tips to heal acne ."

Shanaynay T replied: "Completely getting rid of acne scars takes a long time. Getting rid of scars isn't very easy. Squeezing or picking at acne can damage the skin tissue around the acne. This can lead to the scarring that is such a concern for many people. If the nature of your scars is mild to moderate, then home remedies are sufficient. There are many lotions based on alpha hydroxyl acid and retinol. These lotions are very effective for the treatment of the acne scars. it also depends on the type of your skin. If you have a sensitive skin type, it will be better not to use lotions based on the above ingredients. They can harm sensitive skin. There is a specific range of medications to treat people who can not undergo retinol and alpha acid treatments. The most effective among them are lavender oil, aloe vera juice and rosehip seed oil. They can heal scars without harming the skin in the long run. I suggest trying aloe vera juice and putting that on your face at night where the scars are. Also, try lemon juice. To use the lemon juice treatment to remove your acne scar you will need to first wash your face with warm water. Then pour some lemon juice on a cotton ball, and then gently rub the effected acne mark area. For best results leave the lemon juice on your face for about 10 minutes and then dry the affected acne scar area. To start seeing results with the lemon juice it can take anywhere from one day and even up to three months. Results will vary depending on the seriousness of the acne problem. Another big factor in reducing or getting rid of acne scars is that you will also need to watch the kind of oils you are putting into your body. Some oils that you use is just screaming acne come and get me! One of the most common forms of vegetable oil is the sunflower oil. It is highly recommended that if you are using such oils in your cooking then you should consider stop using them to cook as it will only increase the risk of more acne break outs. By avoiding the use of vegetable oils in your cooking, it has been reported that it can be one of the leading factors in clearing up your acne by 50%. Even in sever cases it has been said that that people who stopped using such vegetable oils, have been completely relieved of any future acne outbreaks. Ready to hear this? Believe it or not by drinking more than the recommended 8 glasses of water daily will immediately begin to see results with getting rid of your acne scars. If you are a severe acne suffer you should stay away from carbonated drinks, and caffeine drinks such as coffee, and sodas. Or if you have the money, go to a dermatologist. If you have serious scarring from previous bouts with acne, there are some things you can do. One form of treatment is laser resurfacing, which can be done in the doctor's or dermatologist's office. The laser removes the damaged top layer of skin and tightens the middle layer, leaving skin smoother. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour. The doctor will try to lessen any pain by first numbing the skin with local anesthesia. It usually takes between 3 and 10 days for the skin to heal completely. Another method for treating acne scarring is dermabrasion, which uses a rotating wire brush or spinning diamond instrument to wear down the surface of the skin. As the skin heals, a new, smoother layer replaces the abraded skin. It may take a bit longer for skin to heal using dermabrasion usually between 10 days and 3 weeks. The newest form of treatment for acne scarring is called fractional laser therapy. This type of treatment works at a deeper level than laser resurfacing or dermabrasion, Because fractional laser therapy doesn't wound the top layer of tissue, healing time is shorter. Fractional laser therapy is quite costly, and it's not usually covered by insurance. A person's acne will need to be under control before having any of these treatments. Depending on the severity of the acne scars, the doctor or dermatologist may also suggest a chemical peel or microdermabrasion to help improve the appearance of scarred areas. These milder treatments can be done right in the office. Some of these are rather expensive though."

Does topical Vitamin E (applied directly on skin) improve or worsen atrophic (indented) acne scars? I have heard that vitamin e stimulates collagen synthesis by stimulating fibroblasts but have read articles saying exactly the opposite; that being, vitamin e inhibits collagen synthesis and actually worsens indented acne scars.

:) replied: "All science aside, I used vitamin E cream for years and it didnt do anything at all except make my skin soft."

misska replied: "It depends on your skin, the amount of Vit E or strength you are using. For atrophic scars caused by acne, i would recommend Microdermabrasion. It will smooth out the scars evenly. After the micro treatments, you will need several depending on the level of scarring. Do a skin peeling to even out your skin. Good Luck"

aLsa replied: "1. Squeeze the juice out of fresh lemons or limes. Apply the juice directly on your acne scars using a cotton ball. Let your skin soak up the lemon juice for a while before washing it off with water. Lemon juice improves the appearance of dark acne scars and blemishes by lightening them. 2. Slice up a tomato and place it over your face. Tomatoes are rich in vitamin A that hinders overproduction of sebum that causes acne. Vitamin A also has antioxidant qualities that refreshes and renews scarred and damaged skin. 3. To treat acne scars, use this mixture as a face mask: 1 tablespoon of sour cream, 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of oatmeal, and a few drops of lemon juice. Pat the mixture onto acne scars, leave on for 10 minutes, and rinse off. 4. Separate the white of an egg from the yolk Beat the white/clear part & apply on face with cotton balls leave on for 15 minutes & wash of with warm water then again Rinse with cold water to tighten pores."
